The theme for Rusinga Festival 2018 is “Celebrating Cultural Diversity”. The National Policy on Culture and Heritage recognizes the fact that Kenya is a multicultural nation and realizes the need to promote unity in cultural diversity and support the commitment of all citizens towards the development of the spirit of nationhood – patriotism tourism. Cultural diversity is also a driving force for socioeconomic development.

In the spirit of enhancing peaceful coexistence especially at a time when we are recovering from the aftermath of the two elections held in 2017, this year Rusinga Festival will provide a platform to people from diverse cultures to showcase their culture alongside the Abasuba community. Bridging the gap between cultures is urgent and necessary for peace, stability and development.

Today, cultural expressions are important in unifying and humanizing people. From the 20th to 21st December, you will be left in awe as you lap up the rich culture and stunning serenade of nature with every sunset and sunrise over Africa’s largest fresh water lake. We believe in the potential of Africans to create a positive impact in their own communities. It’s our time. It’s now!
