The sixth edition of Rusinga Festival was held on 21st and 22nd December 2017 at Rusinga Island. Our audiences from across the ethnic divide, both the young and old enjoyed the festival. The theme of the festival, SPACES, was well timed as per the feedback received from our audiences. The festival has grown tremendously to a leading cultural and tourist attraction in Western Kenya.
Many thanks for supporting us in making #RusingaFest2017 a great success. The National Policy on Culture and Heritage recognizes the fact that Kenya is a multicultural nation and realizes the need to promote unity in cultural diversity and support the commitment of all citizens towards the development of the spirit of nationhood – patriotism tourism. Rusinga Festival continues to provide a platform for cultural expression, public debate and cultural exchange while at the same time economically empowering the community.
It being my first time to be on that part of Nyanza it was amazing to be around warm people not to mention the enthusiasm (especially the children) as the events went on. Definitely should be on everyone’s bucket list. #MoreThanAFestival ~ Lorna Abwonji (Creative Director – Mia Mara Creations)
Rusinga Festival is a great way to experience all the things that make Kenya a great destination; beaches, cultural dances, friendly people, beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and sunrises. It reminds you of all the things we have in common and that a different culture can be beautiful.~ Rayhab Gachango
